Wood has been a primary source of heat for my family for over twenty years. I enjoy the process of cutting down dead trees, sawing them into blocks, hand splitting the blocks with a maul, and stacking several cords of wood for the winter. Here is another rescued piece of cordwood, with one scorched side, as a reflection of what might have been.
